Ukrainian Man Gets to Stay With Family in the Country

CLEVELAND, COLUMBUS, OHIO - Threatened with deportation, a Ukrainian man is allowed to stay in the U.S. after Columbus immigration lawyer Jonathan A. Bartell recently won his case for cancellation of removal request.

The client was facing deportation back to his native Kiev, Ukraine, after his arrest in Seven Hills, Ohio, for drug possession and resisting arrest.
"He was facing a one-way ticket back to the Ukraine," says the immigration and criminal law attorney who also handles drunk driving and Non-immigrant visas cases.

Since there is legal recourse prior to the entry for removal by an immigration judge, cancellation was argued as a form of relief so the judge would not order removal, Bartell says of the client who had circumstances that would have allowed him to stay in the country.

"He had more equities to remain in the U.S. versus the government's position to remove him that made him eligible for cancellation of removal," says EB5 lawyer Bartell.
While the Ukrainian man has lived in the U.S. for about 15 years, he began a life in this country and made it his home, even raising a family.

"His family ties are what drove me to help this client, and I mainly took the case because of his child," says business immigration lawyer Bartell, who is a husband and father. "He has a nice family and was satisfied that his mistake would not cause his family to be ripped apart. His child is a special needs child and there is no way the child could have received the care he received in the U.S."

Bartell's firm offers the best asylum lawyers in Cleveland and throughout the nation when it comes to cancellation of removal and deportation cases.  This client wasn't a hardened criminal who deserved to be banished back to his homeland away from the life and family he started here.

The new immigration policy being implemented will really benefit clients like this and will focus on deporting non-citizens with extreme criminal histories, those worth sending them back to their countries, says the student visa lawyer.  Consideration will be given to those with family including spouse and children, and whether they've been a productive member of our society before automatically removing them.
